Bo Larsen is professor in forestry at the University of Copenhagen. He was former professor at the University of Göttingen in Germany. He is teaching the following courses: "Silviculture", "Urban Woodland Design and Management", and "Ecology and Management of Forest and Nature". He has worked within forest management and silviculture, forest protection, forest genetics and tree breeding as well as ecology and ecophysiology documented in more than 240 publications. He has been on the board of several international research institutions including: Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) in Indonesia, International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) in Kenya, and Forschungszentrum Waldökosysteme der Universität Göttingen.

At present he is Board Chair of European Forest Institute (EFI) as well as board member of International Woodland Company, The Royal Danish Agricultural Society, and Leibniz-Zentrum für Agrarlandschaftsforschung (ZALF) in Germany.

During the last decade he has been instrumental in developing and implementing close-to-nature principles and tools in forest management.
