Nature-based solutions such as green roofs, rain gardens and permeable pavements can provide many benefits in urban areas. My research aims to quantify these benefits, specifically those related to the urban hydrologic cycle. I am especially interested in how blue-green infrastructure can be designed and deployed to mitigate floods, recharge groundwater, irrigate vegetation and moderate urban heat.

To help address these research questions I use methods including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, geographic information systems, remote sensing and field monitoring.

I am currently contributing to three masters level courses:
Urban Ecosystems: Structures, Functions and Designs
Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation and Mitigation
Submodule 4 (Urban Water Management) of the Sino Danish Center masters program in Water and Environment
