Anna Aslaug Lund (born 1983) is an architect and landscape architect MAA, PhD and assistant professor at Section for Landscape Architecture and Planning.
In her research, Anna Aslaug Lund addresses adaptation and mitigation of urban public spaces and urban landscapes to flooding from sea level rise, storm surges and stormwater events. Within this overall field, Anna particularly focuses on ecologies, narratives and sensuous qualities of existing landscapes and imagined solutions. Methodologically her research is practice-led.
Anna has been consultant for the exhibition in the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2023 - “Coastal Imaginaries” curated by Josephine Michau - and her research is exhibited in the pavilion. https://dac.dk/en/exhibitions/coastal-imaginaries/ In addition, together with Jeppe Sengupta Carstensen, Anna is editor of the book Critical Coast, which is part of the exhibition in the Danish Pavilion. https://arkitektensforlag.dk/shop/p/critical-coast
Anna is currently affiliated with the Realdania-funded research project “Danish cities’ adaptation to sea level rise” as well as the EU-funded research project “Regions4Climate”, both of which investigate climate adaptation of urban coastal landscapes.
In 2019 Anna defended her PhD thesis ROOM FOR RAIN – The City as a Garden and the Future of Street. The thesis studies how the design of urban streets may be able to simultaneously mitigate the effects of stormwater events, enhance the perceived sensuous and social qualities of streetscapes, as well as support natural ecologies in the city.
Besides her research, Anna has as well experience as a practicing landscape architect with a focus on cities, landscapes, sustainability and climate adaptation.
