Anton Stahl Olafsson

Associate Professor

Anton Stahl Olafsson (ASOL) is MSc (2007) in Geography and Geoinformatics, and PhD (2012) from Forest and Landscape, University of Copenhagen.

I'm working with planning, management and spatial analysis in relation to landscape management, green structures, outdoor recreation, marine recreation, nature perception, GIS and cycling as a mode of transport.

I was PhD fellow in the period 2008-2011. The PhD addressed GIS mapping of recreational experience values, also called GIS-based Recreation Experience Mapping (REM). Development and validation (among outdoor recreationist and policy makers) and implementation of REM in planning practice were all key components of the PhD.

I was a postdoctoral fellow in 2012-2013 in the project with focus on cycling in relation to urban form and other transport modes.

At the moment I'm working as a project manager in the KU coordinated EU FP7 project  (Green Infrastructure and Urban Biodiversity for Sustainable Urban Development and the Green Economy) in 2013-2017. Further, I'm associated with projects in relation to participatory mapping of marine recreational activities at a national scale in Denmark in support of marine spatial planning

I'm a co-supervisor on a PhD project with focus on reintroduction of cycling in Beijing and Copenhagen, and another PhD project focused on urban biocultural diversity and green space governance (
