Intensive monitoring of Danish forests

The purpose of the intensive monitoring is to investigate the effects of climatic, anthropogenic, biotic and abiotic factors on the condition and functioning of forest ecosystems. The monitoring activities are carried out on 6 plots distributed with 3 in Jutland and 3 on Zealand. The monitoring includes: crown condition of trees, tree nutrient status, tree phenology, stand growth, litterfall, ground vegetation, precipitation and through fall, deposition load of nitrogen and other nutrients, soil solution composition, soil moisture and phenology (leaf flushing, fruiting and leaf senescence).

The Danish intensive monitoring of forests is a part of the pan-European forest monitoring programme FutMon. For more information regarding FutMon, please refer to www.FutMon.org
