My research effort aims to understand the intermolecular surface interactions between different biopolymers and their potential applications. The biopolymers of focus are sidestreams derived from agroforestry and food industry, where the goal is to utilize them and promote a circular process. Valorization and characterization of lignin from the biorefining of lignocellulosic biomass has been a particular area of interest. However, my work also involves other biopolymers such as cellulose, chitosan, hemicellulose and proteins (especially carbohydrate-active enzymes). The potential applications span across different areas including the production of biochemicals, biofuels, biomaterials, feed and food, as well as environmental assessment and remediation.
