Zhaowu Yu got his Ph.D. degree (2015.9-2018.5) from the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen. His Ph.D. thesis is "The cooling effect of urban green infrastructure: From how to where". He has published a series of research papers in Applied Energy, Landscape Ecology, Forest Ecology and Management, Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, Environmental Research Letters, Ecological Indicators, Scientific Reports, Science of the Total Environment, Building and Environment, Urban Forestry & Urban Greening, Sustainable Cities and Society, Remote Sensing, Journal of Geographical Sciences, etc. Within these, two papers are highly cited paper in Web of Science Database, one paper is one of the most highly cited paper in Urban Forestry & Urban Greening journal.
Zhaowu's research interests include Urban Ecology, Landscape Ecology, Urban Climatology, and Environmental Planning and Management. He is also committed to (China's) urbanization and its social and ecological impact.
He is currently studying the adaptation and mitigation of urban heat islands in different climate zones in the context of climate change. Fundings supported by the State Key Laboratory of Urban and Regional Ecology of China (grant no. SKLURE2019-2-6) and Shanghai Key Lab for Urban Ecological Processes and Eco-Restoration (grant no. SHUES2019A01).
He is also a Young Visiting Scholar (2019.5.1 - 2020.4.30) in Key Laboratory of the Coastal and Wetland Ecosystems (Xiamen University), Ministry of Education, China. Supported by WEL Visiting Fellowship Program.
