The Lake platform
The Lake platform contains 5-7 lakes, of which 3-4 lakes are included in the national monitoring program (NOVANA). For all these aquatic sites, long-term data are available on biological, environmental and biogeochemical parameters. In addition, one restored lake is included in the Lake platform to test for biological and physical/chemical changes following a restoration. During the project period high frequency measurements on physical variables will be established.
The high frequency data are suitable for developing and verifying future scenario models on water quality, biological and ecological quality in both a climate and restoration perspective.
The lakes will function as test sites for hydrological modelling at catchment scale i.e. including terrestrial-aquatic transition. Status: At this point we are working on establishing buoys in appointed lakes and on developing a small-scale profiling system for high frequency measurements.
The latter is being developed in collaboration with other research projects and AU-Engineering. The profiling buoy is being tested at Lake Ormstrup (Central Jutland) and will be operating on both Lake Ormstrup and later in 2023 on the deep Lake Ravn.
