Despite the obvious advantages of new communication technologies as generators of social capital, neighborhood cooperation is more necessary than ever. Based on data from a telephone survey of a representative sample of the population over 18 years of age residing in the Galician city of Narón, a logistic regression analysis was performed in order to build an explanatory model of social capital at the local level. The explanatory capacity of variables such as educational level, residence time or sex, among others, varies depending on the dimension of social capital considered. On the contrary, age registers a greater consistency, adopting an inverted U-shaped distribution, which translates into lower levels of social capital in young and old.
