The project held its first national stakeholder workshop on 22. August 2024. Participants from the case study areas, sector ministries, CSO’s, think tanks and research institutions discussed preliminary findings and provided input for future activities.

The RUL4CLI held its first national stakeholder workshop on 22. August 2024. Participants from the case study areas, sector ministries, CSO’s, think tanks and research institutions spent a full day discussing RUL4CLI project findings and implications for future research and policy guidance. The workshop was officiated by Assistant Director Catherine Bamwenzahi, Vice Presidents Office. The first part of the workshop consisted of dissemination of preliminary findings through presentations by project researchers followed by questions from workshop participants. The afternoon was divided into three parallel sessions, where each work package discussed key issues with selected participants in small break-out groups. In addition to sharing and discussing results with stakeholders, the workshop gave the project valuable feedback and recommendations from the participants which will be considered in the planning of upcoming research and dissemination.

The AZAM TV news (in Swahili) reported on  22. August, 2024 “…. The research carried out by the University of Dar es Salaam has revealed that the effects of climate change in this country differ depending on the location, with the major effects being drought, early onset of rains that ends before the season would normally end, as well as the increase in cold periods – its impacts influenced by the relations and interactions between people in rural and urban areas” (own translation).
