The laboratory undertakes various inorganic and organic analyses in multiple matrices.

In addition to a range of conventional chemical and biogeochemical instruments for e.g. pH, electrical conductivity (EC), temperature, moisture and loss-on-ignition (LOI), the laboratory holds advanced instruments for specific tasks. These includes

• Elemental analysis (CE 1110; solid samples for H, C, N, O, S)
• Freeze drier
• Gaschromatographs (greenhouse gases in air; CH₄, CO₂ and N₂O)
• ICP-OES (Thermo Scientific; elements and cations)
• Ion chomatograph (Thermo Scientific; anions including NO₃^-, PO₄^3-, SO₄^2-, Br^-, Cl^-)
• Microplate reader
• Spectrophotometer
• TOC-/TN analyzer (Shimadzu; dissolved inorganic/organic carbon and nitrogen)
