Laboratories at IGN
IGN has several laboratories. They are used for teaching and research for students on all levels: bachelor, master and PhD students and other scientific staff. Some of the laboratories also perform analyses for clients outside the department.
The laboratories and instruments are used within the fields of minerals, rocks and isotopes; earth, water, sedimentology and palaeontology, biomass, genetics and diversity, as well as biochemistry.
We work with sediment and sedimentary rock geochemistry, aqueous-geochemistry, and geomicrobiology.
Geomicrobiology & Biogeochemistry
Researchers in the fields of geomicrobiology and aqueous biogeochemistry, but also in microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, mineralogy, paleoclimate studies and related.
Paleo-plant physiology Laboratory
In the paleo-plant physiological laboratory we investigate how oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere may have influenced the physiology of past plants and insects, their uptake of nutrient salts and their carbon-isotope composition.
