Two new spatial datasets established
Transport network:
A topologically corrected transport network map of the Accra agglomeration area has been established based on OpenStreetMap data using the OMX package. Besides network distance we have established drive time impedance values for calculation of fastest and shortest routes between origins and destinations within the urban area. The drive times values are based on estimations of urban speed levels in Møller-Jensen, L., Kofie, R. & Allotey, A.: Measuring Accessibility and Congestion in Accra. Norwegian Journal of Geography. 66, 2012.
Population distribution:
A detailed, spatial population model of the Accra agglomeration has been established based on the 2010 census data and maps of the Enumeration areas. The process required creation of additional links between census database and EA maps. The population map will be applied to model the urban transport flows and to assess the impacts and severity of local flood events that influences the infrastructure.
