Professer Paul Dupree - honorary doctorate recipient
Our OxyMiST partner, Professor Paul Dupree from the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, received an honorary doctorate in natural science from the University of Copenhagen on November 10. The honorary doctorate is in recognition of Professor Dupree's outstanding contributions to unravelling the complex structure of the plant cell wall and the enzymes involved in its degradation and synthesis and extensive collaborations and networking with researchers at the Department of Chemistry as well as Plant and Environmental Sciences and Geosciences and Natural Resource Management. Professor Dupree applies a truly interdisciplinary approach ranging from advanced analytical chemistry to biochemistry and genetics and is a scientist of exceptional integrity. The fundamental insights on the chemistry of the natural world arising from Professor Dupree's work have also wide-ranging implications for overcoming many challenges in achieving sustainable production of food and materials.
Professor Dupree received his honorary doctorate at the annual commemoration on 10th November in the Ceremonial Hall at Frue Plads. This joyful day was rounded off with a festive evening at the opera where the guests, including HM the Queen, enjoyed a new interpretation of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
We heartily congratulate you, Paul. Thank you for the years of collaboration – we look forward to many more!
