Abandoned industrial sites are often the starting oint for urban redevelopment, forcing the involved actors to discuss which qualities are discrded, protected, and reused. By way of a case study of the ongoing redevelopment of the Carlsberg breweries in Copenhagen, the article emphasizes open spaces as important elements in the becoming of this site and as possibly valuable figures for its future development. The article contributes to the discussion about biographical perspectives on landscape and shows how bridging knowledge from the humanities and design disciplines can create new perspectives on open spaces of industry.
