My professional interests are focused on the field of wetland remote sensing, especially through time series monitoring using large satellite-collected datasets and machine learning with the application of programming and automation.

My PhD project is titled "Remote sensing in wetland studies", which aims to develop improved methods for the remote sensing-based global mapping and change detection of wetlands to contribute to a better understanding of natural and anthropogenic changes in their ecosystem functioning, using long records of medium-to-high resolution satellite time series data, cloud computing, state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning classifiers as well as data fusion techniques in relation to AI. This work spans from September 2020 to August 2023 and is an integral part of a 5 year research project titled: “DeReEco: Deep Learning and Remote Sensing for Unlocking Global Ecosystem Resource Dynamics” financed by the Villum Foundations.
