Assessment of economic impact of deforestations from north-east development region, romania

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articleResearchpeer-review

Nowadays, deforestation process in Romania is in a growing trend considering the need for wood in industrial process, the fast rate of illegal logging and the need for lands in agriculture. Forest areas are subject of an increase pressure from socio-economic factors. Wood is used frequently as construction material and combustible. We investigated the evolution of forest areas in North-East Development Region and the incomes in economy related to forest activities (sylviculture and other forestry activities, logging, sawing and plantation of woods, joinery installations and wholesale of woods). The most deforested counties from North-East Development Region are Suceava, Bacău counties and the less deforested counties are Bacău, Botoşani and Iaşi counties. The spatial distribution of forest areas is increased up to the lower limit of the alpine space (mountain counties as Suceava, Neamţ, Bacău) face to plain/hills counties (Botoșani, Iași, Vaslui). In this paper, we statistical analysis to analyze the deforested areas to assess the economic impact of deforestation process into the economic activities.
