Final Appraisal for Tenure Track Assistant Professor Mikkel Fruergaard

Mikkel Fruergaard

Changing coasts

Mikkel Fruergaard’s research is focused on developing a comprehensive understanding of the controls of coastal evolution under changing sea levels and concerned with dynamics of plastic pollution in coastal environments.

Since being employed as assistant professor Mikkel’s research has deciphered how changes in rates of sea-level rise and sediment dynamics impact coastal geomorphology and transform coastal landscapes. Using a set of different methods such as sediment coring, age dating techniques, LiDAR and historical maps and remote sensing of satellite and drone imagery, Mikkel is focusing on understanding how especially coastal environments continuously adapt to changing climatic boundary conditions.

In his appraisal seminar, Mikkel will present key highlights from his research over the past six years as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor. He will also share his future research objectives and reflections on visions for future teaching development.
