Planning challenges for green infrastructure in metropolitan regions - an Italian perspective
Open lecture and discussion with Claudia Cassatella
The metropolitan area of Turin was one corner of the “industrial triangle” of Northern Italy in the past Century. The post-industrial transition implies an explicit strategy of environmental and landscape requalification. The green and blue infrastructure of Turin is the result of 25 years of plans and projects, a clear landscape vision, and a collaborative multilevel governance system. This lecture will illustrate planning mechanisms and outcomes at the local and the regional scale, and recent challenges in the management of such a supra-local system.
